Founded in 1980, the PRCP brings together psychiatrists from the nations of the Pacific Rim to advance psychiatry through scientific exchange and cultural understanding.
Est. 1980
The Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists was established to create a forum in which psychiatrists working across enormously different health systems — from large urban centres to remote island communities — could learn from one another on equal terms.
The College holds its International Congress on a rotating basis among member nations, a practice that keeps its scientific agenda genuinely regional. Its enduring concern is the integration of culture into psychiatry: the recognition that diagnosis, treatment, and recovery are all shaped by the setting in which they occur.
Established in 1973, the PPA is the national professional organization of psychiatrists in the Philippines.
Est. 1973
The Philippine Psychiatric Association advances the science and practice of psychiatry in the Philippines, sets standards for professional practice and training, and advocates for the mental health of the Filipino people.
Its Annual Convention is the principal scientific meeting for psychiatry in the country, and the Association works closely with government, academic institutions and civil society on the continuing expansion of mental health services throughout the archipelago.
The PRCP International Congress has been hosted across the Pacific Rim since 1980. Selected recent congresses are listed below.
